5:30 PM, the rain has just stopped. A film of thin droplets still clings to the studio window at Joyce’s. The air feels sticky and bright, as if someone wiped the world clean a moment ago. Lin Qiao steps in just as her phone lights up again — it’s Chen Qian. The honest reply she finally sent at the end of last chapter? He answered first. But only halfway. The sentence stops at “Actually, back then I…” and goes no further. She flips the phone face-down on the table, sits, takes a deep breath. “Joyce, he answered first — but only halfway. So now: do I send the full version of what I really want to say, or not?”
⚡ Pause here. Close your eyes for three seconds. Which card number popped into your mind? Remember that number (1 to 5) and read its meaning below — that’s the one the universe especially wants you to hear today.
Joyce flips the cards out crisply. Five upright. One by one.
Card One — Where you are now: The Sun. “Look — the sun is out!” Joyce smiles. “The Moon’s in Leo tonight, giving you a full three-hour window to play the lead. Your energy right now is bright, not shrinking.”
Card Two — How he feels: Knight of Cups. “He isn’t testing you. He’s actually holding out the cup. He answered halfway not because he ran out of words, but because he’s waiting for you to reach back.”
Card Three — Your connection: Two of Cups. “Equal, real, mutual. Eight months and it hasn’t disappeared. Stop wondering whether this whole thing is one-sided already, okay!”
Card Four — What to watch out for: The Moon. Joyce taps the card. “Tonight there’s a 15-minute void-of-course Moon right before 9:04 PM, when Leo Moon hands off to Virgo Moon. That gap is the dangerous one — you’ll suddenly think ‘am I trying too hard?’ ‘will he find me annoying?’ That’s not the truth. That’s the Moon making things up.”
Card Five — The advice for you: Two of Wands. “Stand on that small high ground and choose the direction you want. You’re not choosing him. You’re choosing the version of yourself you’re willing to let be seen.”
Joyce closes the deck and looks straight at her: “Lin Qiao, you know exactly what to say. You’re scared that once you say it, you can’t go back to the safe gray zone. Right?” Lin Qiao’s eyes well up. “The courage Leo Moon is offering isn’t about performing a stronger you. It’s about letting your real self be seen — the tender, missing-him, still-cares-about-it you. Stop overthinking already!”
Something inside Lin Qiao quietly snaps loose. She decides to type the full version into the chat box — but this time, not pinned and unsent. She’ll wait. Wait through the Leo handoff, through those 15 minutes of void-of-course, and the moment Virgo Moon takes over, send it. Give herself a version that’s “not impulse — it’s a choice.” Joyce laughs and pats her shoulder: “Just send it. Try it. Life’s about giving things a try!”
Lin Qiao walks out of the studio. The rain really has stopped. Through a gap in the clouds, a thin pale-apricot sky-glow falls warmly across the street corner. She sits at the window of a convenience store and types the full sentence, character by character, into the chat box — not yet pressing send. Next chapter (Chapter Four): once the message goes through, what will Chen Qian’s reaction be? And someone she didn’t expect at all will appear in the night. Come pull a card whenever you need to ask yourself a question, okay?
